Selling a property in The Bridge, Dubai Sports City

The Bridge development in Dubai Sports City was marketed very much on the basis of ‘centrality’. It’s brochure read “Tired of a long drive to the office in traffic? Imagine leaving the house a mere minute before the start of your working day. The Bridge is the place where you can do just that.” That is the aspiration in any case. The Bridge combines fully furnished apartments with four floors of serviced offices.

The Bridge Development features a rooftop ‘Sky Pool’ and high end Health Club. It is, of course, right in the middle of Dubai Sports City’s many sporting academies, The Els Club Golf Course and International Cricket Stadium, as well as a choice of restaurants, cafés and retail outlets (not all of which are yet completed).

It is envisaged that Dubai Sports City will host the region’s major sporting events, with residents, sports fans, enthusiasts, athletes, tourists and Dubai’s own population being drawn in to developments like The Bridge. The master development plan, when completed, includes waterfront commercial blocks stretching across boulevards with restaurants, cafes, malls, multiplex cinemas, hotels and retail outlets.

Some people are delighted with the news that properties in The Bridge are completing (or have completed), because they thought they were never going to get a property there at all. Others, however, are not so happy. This is either because they never intended to take ownership of the properties in the first place (they bought them to ‘flip’ them before taking ownership back when that sounded like a good idea) or they are now in a very different place financially and can’t afford to complete or simply have far better uses for that money right now. Either way, some people would prefer if the developer would go away and not contact them again. The good news is that the property at The Bridge you may well have forgotten about is likely to be worth looking into at the very least.
