Jewel of the Creek Completion
Jewel of the Creek completion is estimated to be in late summer/autumn 2017. Early in 2016 the fiver towers in the first phase of the Jewel of the Creek development topped out. The project, when complete, will consist of 9 towers in total.
Roda Hotels, which is the hospitality arm of Dubai International Real Estate, is the company behind the Dh4 billion Jewel of the Creek project located between Al Maktoum Bridge and Floating Bridge, which is on the Deira side of Dubai Creek.
The five towers in the first phase which have topped out include the 438-room Roda five-star hotel as well as four towers of serviced apartments and studio apartments. There are also plans for a 60-berth marina and 20 retail outlets.
The project is unique as it created the first phase as an island, with the water enclosed designed as a salted, filtered swimming pool. The makes it the largest swimming pool in the Middle East at 400 metres wide and four metres deep.
Phase two, which has commenced, includes a 389-room non-alcoholic hotel, a 445-room four-star fashion hotel, a 405-room three-star self check-in hotel as well as the Dubai Dome. This is a multi-purpose entertainment facility with a 3,000 person capacity. It is estimated that phase two will complete in late 2018.
Most commercial space has been pre-leased with announcements expected during the Arabian Travel Market. The final phase, due to complete in 2019, is to feature waterfront chalets.
Roda Hotels believes that Dubai needs a further 120,000 rooms to cater for demand created by increasing new airline destinations, the extension of the GCC train network, increasing number of tourists, expansion of Dubai’s Theme Park offerings, Expo 2020 and other exhibitions.
